Entrepreneur – based in Vietnam
Dominik – a native to Frankfurt am Main, has been spending time and ultimately relocating to Vietnam since more than a decade ago.
Dominik serves currently as part of the Founding Team of BitcoinVN and acts as a private investor across a range of asset classes.
He is an avid observer of sociology, history, economics, psychology – and believes that strengthening the individual in body & mind (“Mens sana in corpore sano”), self-ownership & self-accountability and widespread recognition & practice of traditional family values are a key to build and maintain strong societies which ultimately benefit all of its members.
Dominik grew up in a lower middle class environment in a family which could – due to a lack of their own experiences – not provide him with the imagination of what the true possibilities of the individual are.
He was well on the way to become just another embittered and entitled failure with a pointless degree, ending up working in a dead-end, soul-crushing corporate job – and understands therefore very well the mindset of his generation that drives Western societies to the brink of abyss these days.
What ultimately helped him to turn his life around was his dedicated love for his hometown Frankfurt and the football club of Eintracht Frankfurt.
In this environment he learned the values which ultimately led to his later success in the years that followed.
The ability to dream big, strive for the exceptional and ignore what “conventional” society tells you your limitations are – and turn it into a reality by dedicated hard work.
The ultimate value of loyalty.
You can’t build anything which lasts with people who turn their back on you when the going gets rough.
Everybody wants to be your friend and has a smooth talk when the sun shines – but few are those who stick around and stand by your side when the “rational choice” would be to abandon you in order to save their own ass.
The people who have proven themselves in this manner deserve reciprocal loyalty in return – do not forget about them.
Hard situations will come and have to be overcome.
This is how you build a legacy.
You do not want to have backstabbers or cowards in your lines when the time arises which puts your team to the test.
Overcome fear and take risks.
A fearful person won’t achieve much success in anything in life.
All your rationalizations to skimp out of tough or challenging situations for avoidance of any “discomfort” now will lead you nowhere.
None of the people who made a lasting impact on the world, have sections in history books or even whole books written about themselves got there by “playing it safe”.
Fortune favours the bold.
His mindset and view on the world was heavily influenced by his experiences in his social circle in Frankfurt and ultimately blessed him with the serendipity that led him to leave a deteriorating Europe for better opportunities in the free-market endorsing Vietnam and become an early adopter and advocate of Bitcoin.
If he would have to boil the recipe for success in life down to its essence, the following two skills seem to be of principal importance:
